Radial artery calcification in predicting coronary calcification and atherosclerosis burden

چکیده
Abstract Background Atherosclerosis is a systemic arterial disease with heterogeneous involvement in all vascular beds, however studies examining the relationship between coronary and radial artery calcification are lacking. The purpose of this study was to assess two sites prognostic value (RC) for disease. Methods results This single-center, retrospective cross-sectional based on doppler ultrasound (RUS) angiography (CAG). We included total 202 patients undergoing RUS during distal access CAG at same procedure, December 2020 May 2021, from which 103 were found having RC (RC-group) 99 without (NRC-group). Coronary calcifications evaluated either by examination (moderate severe), positive CT (>100 Agatson units) or intracoronary imaging (IVUS, OCT). A significant correlation observed variables (67.3%, vs 32.7% – p=0.001). risk factors such as age, smoking, chronic kidney diabetes mellitus higher while sex did not play role. need PCI and/or CABG RC-group (60% 44%, p=0.02). therefore predicts extent severity Conclusion may be frequently associated calcific plaques. These findings highlight potential beneficial arteries whenever CAD suspected. Funding Acknowledgement Type funding sources: None.

Cerebral atherosclerosis and coronary calcification.
Cerebral Atherosclerosis and Coronary Calcification To the Editor: We read with great interest the article by Vliegenthart et al1 concerning an association between stroke and coronary calcification. It is of interest whether coronary calcification is correlated with cerebral atherosclerosis. We also believe that coronary calcification could play a crucial role in the incidence of cerebral infar...
متن کاملIntegrative predictive model of coronary artery calcification in atherosclerosis.
BACKGROUND Many different genetic and clinical factors have been identified as causes or contributors to atherosclerosis. We present a model of preclinical atherosclerosis based on genetic and clinical data that predicts the presence of coronary artery calcification in healthy Americans of European descent 45 to 84 years of age in the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA). METHODS AND ...

An 11-year-old boy presented with giant calcifications on the chest radiograph, detected during screening for heart disease (Figure). He had been diagnosed with measles twice, at 1 and 2 years of age. Before this screening, he had been asymptomatic. An ECG revealed sinus rhythm and no specific ST-T–wave changes. The CT scan showed 2 giant circular masses at the atrioventricular sulcus of the ri...

Coronary artery calcification (CAC) is an established marker of subclinical atherosclerosis and an independent predictor of future coronary heart disease in the asymptomatic primary prevention population, particularly in the intermediate risk cohort. CAC also helps in reclassifying those patients and their risk of cardiovascular events into higher or lower risk categories. MESA (Multi-Ethnic St...

Background and purpose: Coronary artery disease is a major cause of mortality, morbidity, and disability in society and patients incur high expenditure on treatment. Pulp stones are ectopic calcifications of the pulp vessel walls, so, they can have similar pathogenesis as those of other organs and coronary atherosclerosis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between cor...
